Nexus DesignWorks serves the residential construction market in Central Pennsylvania by providing high quality architectural design services at reasonable prices. All too often the design process is simply viewed as a necessary evil - a "to do" item on a checklist in the building permit process. However, at Nexus DesignWorks, we believe each project deserves a well thought-out design process, and a quality set of plans.
With over 20 years of residential design and construction experience, our architectural designer has been involved in the construction of hundreds of homes, including spending several years directly overseeing the construction of more than 100 homes in subdivisions throughout the Southeastern US and Central Pennsylvania. This direct hands-on experience means that – unlike most other design firms – Nexus DesignWorks knows first-hand the importance of a solid design and great set of plans.
At Nexus DesignWorks, we firmly believe that good planning up front will lead to great results in the end. We welcome the opportunity to work with you on your next project!
We utilize the latest versions of AutoCAD and Chief Architect Premiere software for both 2D and 3D architectural design and drafting for creation of detailed construction plans as well as 3D color renderings to help visualize the project during the design process.
Plans are delivered in hardcopy form and/or electronic form – PDF files or other file formats as applicable. We have a variety of plan packages available, but we can fully customize a plan set to perfectly match your specific project requirements as necessary.
We know the PA UCC building codes and know the "ins and outs" of the permitting process. Our fully developed CAD designs and plans are designed to meet the International Residential Code (IRC) 2015 edition and exceed the minimum requirements for issuance of building permits in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Whether you are a homeowner or residential builder, Nexus DesignWorks can provide a wide variety of design and CAD services for you and/or your clients.

Brett Warren, our founder and senior designer, holds both a Master of Engineering and Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University, during which time he began his residential construction career as an estimator for a local custom home builder. Following a few years in the consulting engineering world in both Harrisburg, PA, and Atlanta, GA, Brett realized his true calling was to residential design and construction. The size, volume, and overall value of the Atlanta housing market in the 1990s were just too much to overlook.
Brett then continued to work in the Atlanta home building arena for nearly 10 years with construction companies large and small, production and custom. His experience covered a wide range of disciplines including estimating, purchasing, design, and field supervision, and then concluding his Atlanta adventures with Morrison Homes where he served as Division Vice President of Estimating, Purchasing, and Design
Returning to Central Pennsylvania with his wife and family in 2003, Brett remained in the home building and construction industry, working full time for a large site development contractor/general contractor, which led to a position as operations manager and listing agent for a large 50+ condominium community in York County, having also become a licensed realtor during this time.
Nexus DesignWorks began in 2011 as the need for affordable, yet high-quality, design and CAD drafting services became evident through conversations and connections within the local building and subcontracting community in Central Pennsylvania. In 2017, Nexus DesignWorks grew to a full-time, full-service design firm serving builders and homeowners alike, with projects throughout Central Pennsylvania.
